The Heart Behind What We Do.

Inspiring little minds to develop through hands-on play.

At Open Hand Learning, we believe in the magic of childhood — the wonder, the curiosity, and the power of play. Founded by us, Richelle and Craig, a husband-and-wife team in Western Australia, our mission is simple: to create thoughtful, sensory-rich resources that support early learning, fine motor development, and imaginative play.

Our business began as a creative outlet at our kitchen table and grew into something much more. Our beautiful son, who is now five years old, has been the heart of our inspiration. As he moved through each stage of development, we designed new resources to support his learning, creativity, and growth. Each product we create has been shaped by our own journey as parents — and the desire to help other families nurture their little ones, too.

Together, we bring different strengths to Open Hand Learning. While you won’t often see Craig on our socials, he’s a huge part of everything we do behind the scenes — from handcrafting our wooden resources to troubleshooting all the technical details.

We’ve been high school sweethearts, together for nearly 14 years and married for six, and we feel so lucky to be building something we’re proud of as a family.

We design everything with little hands in mind — from our eco-friendly Busy Bags and handmade play dough stamps to our colourful, tactile sensory bases. Each product is made not just to entertain, but to educate, spark joy, and support learning through play.

Whether you’re looking for meaningful screen-free activities, party favours with purpose, or just a moment of quiet while your child engages in sensory discovery — we’re here for that.

We’re proudly Australian made, family-run, and built on a love for connection, creativity, and early childhood development.

Thank you for being here — we can’t wait to be a part of your playtime journey.
